archives dear people
here are 10 songs to make up for lost time(:
1) C'mon Baby-Wakefield
this is my rockin ringtone babayyyeee.
Released in 2005, this song rings with freshness that i don't find boring and old at all((:
anyway, what's the deal with wakefield man? like, i bet only 1/10 people who read the blog know who they are. searching on youtube, i found only TWO songs. one in 2002/2003 and C'mon Baby. But this group, despite being amazingly off my (and most people's) radar, is pretty hot. With the likes of ex Good Charlotte drummer in their four-piece, this band played their first show in a NYC club and have toured with several big bands like MxPx (i just took that off wiki, so i hv totally no idea what that band is like. ohwell). Their new album is said to come out really soon so it's something to check out.
p.s: ter doesnt like this. but it's really worth a listen :D

2) She's A Lady-Forever The Sickest Kids
woahhh who taught THEM how to PLAY like that, at this pace theyre at theyre going way too fasssttt (heh. :D playing with lyrics from Woah Oh, their top hit on itunes and many other charts). i guess FTSK's quick rise to success is mainly due to all the hard work frontman Jonathan Cook has put in to market the band. Plus theyve had links to a popular hotel chain (uh, i forgot which one) so that makes touring easy for them. Adding on to that, some endorsement from Paris Hilton, the world's favourite spoilt heiress, has put them in high places. This damn song. It keeps playing in my head. The main chorus is wayyy catchy-SHE'S A LADY AND LADIES SHOULDN'T BE MESSED WITH- and it took it 3 days to jump to my top 25 on my ipod. so how bout that. She's A Lady is one of my favourite choices from their album Underdog Alma Mater and it's definitely a rock-on add to your playlist.
3) You Do, You Don't- Friday Night Boys
this song is pretty good. i mean i dont even know what other word to use than good. it's nice but then i know some people will say no to it. But seriously, the song is really emotional and explores lots of feelings that i see my friends going through. Towards the end, i felt myself tearing o: so that's a sign? Although there isn't a single wiki article mentioning them, this band seriously has got something going on. Touring with bands like All Time Low, the band is also going to play in the Jingle My Bells Festival with Valencia, There For Tomorrow and Ace Enders, just to name a few. Theyre gonna be on to something big soon! so take a listen to this song and be one of those who started listening to them before they hit HUGE popularity. other songs that i like from them: superman(save you), that's what she said.
4) One Last Time-Take The Lead
i just randomly picked this song from their list of 4 on their myspace cos i rly didnt know which one would show the best in the band! just take a listen luh(: the problem is, this band is rly new on the scene and theyre damn unknown. i searched. no youtube. no nothing. so my advice is to get ready for their EP coming out soon this month and maybe try to catch a youtube video of their songs. if you want it, buy it! back to the song and the band: i guess there are tons of bands with sounds like these nowadays. but then the reason why i posted their song is just to provide a glimpse into the numerous bands trying to make it big in the US. This one is a good specimen and I think we'll see more of them sooner or later! LISTEN!
http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewprofile&friendID=184078505
the band is way off radar so check their myspace(: love you guys!
5)April Showers Bring May Flower-Sail By The Stars
okay, like, seriously, OMG YOU HAVE TO CHECK OUT ALL ALL ALL OF HIS SONGS. they are fucking good and im not afraid to swear about it. He is going to be a star i tellsss you! This dude, Josh K., plays all the instruments and writes all the songs. omg WHO HAS THAT MUCH TALENT. SHEESH. and the songs sound btr than tons of those bands that get together to jam. frigging fantastic, this one's a keeper and i don't have anything else to say but THERE IS NO SUBSTITUTE FOR AWESOMENESS!
6) Ultraviolet-The Stiff Dylans
Who's read Angus, Thongs And Full Frontal Snogging (did i get that right?)? Cos yes, this IS the band from the book. well okay not exactly. Our lovely brit boys all auditioned to play "The Stiff Dylans", a fictional band in the movie version of the book. But who's complaining! These boys will never disappoint with their catchy hooks and lyrics, of course not without the huge dash of charisma they have-why, it comes in TRUCKLOADS i tell you. The only thing im wondering is WHY WHY WHY they never met sooner and brought some life into my slightly dreary (no offence) opinion on brit music. All I have to say is that it was simply fate to bring them together. mushy muchhh but it's true! One thing the band truly has to be thankful for sure is that they were made for the silver screen and so the publicity will be mega. So now, the song: HELLO. THIS IS LIKE THE THEME SONG FOR THE MOVIE. maybe you've heard it as you drove past lido shaw centre as the trailer of the movie played on the huge screen (well, that's where i heard it today). so it being the theme song of the movie should be sufficient testimony. but for the sake of it, i think it's an absolutely terrific song and your ear-time won't be wasted. i promise! the song has been playing over and over since i watched the movie 3wks ago! so how bout that! to end, just wanna say that the band itself is truly ultraviolet and and and. WATCH THE MOVIE DAMN IT. COS AARON JOHNSON IS IN IT. GAWD. :D
7) The Shake-Kisschasy
soft guitar and intricately woven lyrics. what more do you want from this comforting song! every single time i hear this song im lulled into calm (lol-but im serious). more abt kisschasy. the basics: it's an aussie rock band hailing from victoria, THE ABSOLUTE PLACE TO BE, and specifically my third home, melbourne. so through the years, their sound has matured abit and their career has seen them playing with greats such as SIMPLE PLAN-which by the way, is the love-in the best locations like the rod laver arena in melbourne. yup. that's about it. go check them out. some nice songs(:
8) Remembering Sunday-All Time Low
AHHH I LOVE ALL TIME LOW! theyre EXTREMELY GOOD X 1000000000000. :D yeh. that good. this song is a fine sample. honest lyrics, soothing voice of vocalist alex (hehhh he's rly cute!) and this song has got it's place in my heart and head hands down. The song is about a guy who's searching for THAT GIRL. i guess many people are faced with such an issue. i mean like for someone to spend the rest of your life with, you can't just pick any old person down the street. you have to get that right person wherever they may be. yepp. it's a good song to relate to and just a fraction of ATL's pwn-ness :D
9) That For Me-Forever The Sickest Kids
must. control. self. from. recommending. another. FTSK. song. gah. icantdoit. i just HAVE HAVE HAVE to push this song. this song absolutely lifts you upppp. it makes me feel super good, whenever i listen to it. the song is a sure find on my top 25 and you should add it to yours!
10) Without You-Hinder
so the first time i heard this song was on mtv, while watching the video. i swear i heard the first few notes and i was like GOSH I NEED TO KNOW THAT SONG! haha had that feeling before? yeahhh this song will make you way drawn to it cos it's such a meaningful song! haha nth to say abt hinder cos i think most people have heard them before with their hit Lips Of An Angel. this song=winnaaarrrr.
Self Against City-The Process (Tonight) SEVEN-CUTE LEAD SINGER ;O but no that’s not why it scored a seven. I decided on 7 cos it sounds clean and not so messy, like the instruments are well played. Search for more songs by this band. Definitely something to like. Theyre an indie rock band from California and theyve toured with Houston Calls(Exit Emergency's a decent song) and Quietdrive(the band that did a "Time After Time" cover)
Aiden-We Sleep Forever- er. FIVE-OMG CREEPY VIDEO. but face it, his singing uh, sucks. yeah. the song's okayyyy. the video's rly strange. but maybe that's part of the appeal. anw their genre is mainly American post-hardcore according to ole wikipedia and they managed to get a UK rock charts no.1 hit for their song "one love". but here's we sleep forever anyways.
All Time Low-Dear Maria, Count Me In-EIGHT HALF YO. so this is the tad bit of mainstream. i mean, it is right? catchy guitar and high voice of the lead singer. typical. but this song is really gooodddd. love it much. and seriously, the dude has this knack for dressing like a pimp in MVs (he looked like one im poppin' champagne too, which is also a totally awesome song. creds to ter for the recommendation). More about the band, they say theyre influenced by Green Day and Blink-182 and this year, theyre on tour in the UK with coolio Cobra Starship(good songs. serious. will recommend songs soon). and fyi, the lead's name is Alexander William Gaskarth. gass-kar-thhh i say.
There For Tomorrow-No More Room To Breathe- SEVENish?-well considering dear maria count me in was already in my playlist, this song is pretty much the rock/alternative find of the day. though heh ter said he mentioned it before. whoops. so theyre generalised as alternative rock/emo and were part of the Warped Tour(which has rly awesome acts) 2008 compilation, if that says any much.
Arctic Monkeys-When The Sun Goes Down-SEVEN-love this songgg. fine. maybe some find it annoying but like the guitar and bass are like, damn good luh. that's why it scored high for meeee. and yeah theyre from the UK hence the accent. some ppl actually find that very gross. oh well. whatever turns you on.
Holiday Parade-Hope Dies Last -SEVEN-sweet song(: and quiet, compared to the rest. yupp. they have pretty good songs like driving away and my philosophy. go search.
Letter Kills-Shot In The Chest-EIGHT ooh wait. hmm maybe this is the find of the day. guess what. they lead guitarist is a language arts teacher now. they opended for mcr before too. not bad!
HyperCrush-The Arcade- SEVEN-i dont careeee. i like this song and the vid. it's cool! and recently they played at The Roxy in LA on sunset blvd and totally made things smokinnnn. come on. i mean, some parts of the song are cute right :D like 'collect dimes like super mario'. no? pffft. you people are no fun.
Fightstar-Death Car-EIGHT-charlie simpson + band=kicksomefreakinass. niceright.niceright. rowr. well even if you dont i think it's rly good anyway. little charlie's becoming quite a screamer after leaving boy band Busted (yes he was from Busted) and thus led Busted to its split. i cant blame charlieeee. but im really sad they broke up. okok fightstar. yeah. this song was on the soundtrack of resident evil(ehh cant rmb which one) and charlie's voice makes it sound sooo good.
Fighstar-Waste A Moment-SIXish?-i just couldn't resist charlie's voice seriously. okay maybe this song isnt THAT nice. but :D more charlie!
Four Year Strong- Bada Bing! Wit’ a Pipe! -SIX HALF-pretty good shit.
Drouput Year- Breakin’ Bones In ABC Order-FIVE- the ‘so happy’ part is weird! Normal song I guess
Something Corporate- Hurricane-SIX-The verses are average but I love the chorus- like the into your hurricane part.
Sparks the Rescue- Nurse! Nurse!-FOUR-this song is okay I guess. They have the increasingly common lead singer with a sorta high voice.
Underoath-Reinventing Your Exit-FOUR HALF-so, actually the song is quite nice(minus the screaming) and the guitars sound good. for a skinny guy, he screams good(talking abt the lead here). At the beginning the screaming isn’t so bad. But rowr! It kinda gets annoying for me later. Oh well whatever! You guys take it if you wanna. The band seems to be somewhat the screamy kind btw so yah this isnt the only screamy song from them o.O
Valencia-The Space Between-FIVE-one of those bands with dorky member get-up, who finally realized a semi-rockstar status dream. This song doesn’t exactly score top marks from me but it’s acceptable. And I think there are some people out there who will want it. And besides, the video’s kinda sweet.
the video embedding was disabled so here's a link : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QoLBe_wyvBw
Trust Company-Stronger-SIX-this song is relatively good in my opinion. I think the song is roughly about how a person feels they are leading a better life after their bf/gf left them. And they realize that they were holding them down? Yeah something like that. Take a listen! It’s worth it.
Ivoryline-Remind Me I’m Alive-SEVEN HALF-maybe im on a lucky streak towards the end. Semi creative lyrics and good verses and choruses overall
Scenes From A Movie-Save You-EIGHT- well well. A song worthy of an eight. I think the lyrics are actually creative, not like the same old stuff we hear sometimes. GOOD SONG!
Escape The Fate-Not Good Enough For Truth In Cliché-EIGHT-totally saving the best for last. great song and worth its rating. And it even has screaming but I don’t mind! And I think the lyrics aren’t lame and stuff. i really really actually like this song(:
Labels: screamy songs
so i guess this is welcome and i hope you guys keep coming back to hunt for sounds. haha i like the feeling of finding a totally new nice song. so yeahh keeps me motivated to do this i guess.
so yahhh like you've read, it's a weekly thing. maybe my commentries may not be awesome but pffft. close one eye on that one please. hopefully it'll get better as i go alonggg.
and yes, now i must talk about ter. so he's like admin officer and shizz and he'll be suggesting stuff tooooo. and he's aiming for that 3.6 baby. random much. but who cares! okay first post cominggg
